The Alfa Romeo 1900 was built from 1950 to 1958, and is therefore celebrating its 75th anniversary. The 1900 brought the Milanese factory several firsts; the first Alfa with a monocoque body, the first type to be assembled on a conveyor-belt and the first Alfa with left-hand drive as standard. The 1900 was a sporty sedan (berlina) that was also entered in races such as the Mille Miglia and the Carrera Panamericana.

Design

The 1900 was the first Alfa Romeo model to have a monocoque body. The technical components also found their way to countless coachbuilders. Remember the Disco Volante and the various Superleggera coupés from Touring and the BAT 5, 7 and 9 from Bertone. Zagato, Ghia, Vignale, Boano and a number of others also showed multiple beautiful pieces of art.
